COMMUNITY BOLEH: ACCEPTING LIFE’S CHALLENGES, LIVING EACH DAY AT A TIME.

Kamisah is a 42-year-old single mother with four children, one of whom is a child with special needs. Putra, her son, is 11 and is bedridden. Due to a series of health concerns, he relies permanently on his family for care and his daily needs. His condition is such that it impairs his ability to communicate verbally and he suffers from seizures when exposed to overwhelming stimuli such as loud sounds. Kamisah compares caring for Putra to riding a roller coaster.

Yet despite the difficulties, she perseveres and tries to do her best by him. Fearful of being irresponsible with him, she is diligent in applying the training she learnt from KKH to caring for his needs. She also informs Putra's physicians of every detail of his condition.

Kamisah once admitted, it is not easy caring for Putra while taking care of her other children. She often feels burnt-out, mentally drained and physically tried.

After learning of her plight, her family intervened. Through their support and encouragement, Kamisah was reminded of the importance of self-care and self-compassion. She now understands these values and makes time for herself as well as the hobbies she enjoys.

With all that has transpired, she cherishes every minute she spends with Putra and continues to embody that sentiment through her care and actions, reminding him of his importance to the family and their ongoing support.

Nothing compares to a mother's love for her child. Kamisah, we respect your strength and love for Putra!
