CONTINUING THE LEGACY OF COMMUNITY CARING SPIRIT: MASITA
October 12, 20221 min read
In loving remembrance of Madam Masita—the founder or the Bubur Project.
Madam Masita had a compassionate heart despite her own circumstances. She started the Bubur Project to care for and help her neighbours who were impacted by the hardships brought about by COVID-19.
During the season of Ramadan in 2020, Madam Masita took it upon herself to cook, pack, and deliver Bubur (or porridge) to her Muslim neighbours, making sure that no one went without food during the holy fasting month.
Her acts of kindness sparked a chain reaction, inspiring others in the community to do the same. Many in the neighbourhood came together to help one another both in spirit and in deed.
Unfortunately, on 11 October 2020, she passed away after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Madam Masita's initiative touched hundreds of lives. Although her passing was heart-breaking for many of us who knew and loved her, she remains an inspiration for everyone in the community to step forward in compassion and kindness, and to carry on her loving legacy.
The Bubur Project's effort continues to this day. Her charitable spirit and legacy will live on forever in all our hearts and actions.
