With the purpose of ensuring equal educational opportunities, the Learning Kampung (LK) programme was established to enhance the academic experience of under-resourced primary and secondary students.
The programme's framework is made up of mentorship and homework support provided by SCC volunteers. At the height of COVID-19 in 2020, although lessons were relocated online, our group of volunteers stayed committed to providing educational support to students throughout this time.
During the PSLE season, we needed to guarantee that students received adequate assistance. Jon Hui, a student and new volunteer with the LK programme, was instrumental in their preparation. Even with her hectic schedule, she continued to coach six Primary 6 students for their PSLE exams.
Despite occasional setbacks, such as content revisions with students when weekly sessions were unable to occur, and when the gap between lessons widened, Jon Hui continued to help the students as she was motivated by the children's conscientious and hardworking attitude. She believes that with determination, nothing can stand in their way!
