Meet Ashraf and Jeet, our two rockstars with a shared love for music.
Ashraf plays the Djembe and Cajon while Jeet plays the Drums and Keyboard. They first met when performing in a band at the IWUE 2019 Celebration at Leng Kee Park, and again at the IWUE 2020 e-Celebration. For them, the musical performance goes beyond showcasing their talent and entertainment; it is about highlighting the community's strengths during the trying COVID-19 times.
In February 2021, they teamed up with Ali and Hasan from the Community Band to create a rock interpretation of Chinese New Year songs as well as a medley of popular Malay songs for Hari Raya. It was much to the delight of their families and the community. The e-performances were among the few videos released on SCC's Facebook page that received over 1,000 views.
Since then, Ashraf, Jeet, Ali, and Hasan have formed a friendship that transcends music. Indeed these are beautiful bonds formed in trying times through shared passion!
